The Dorian mode is a minor scale, often used in musical styles such as blues and jazz to create a somewhat sassy feel. When used by a solo guitarist in DADGAD it creates a warmer, sweeter option to the minor Aeolian mode. The fingering for this scale is very useful as it is equivalent to the C major and A minor scales. Having this scale and its chords under your fingertips is a big help when playing with other musicians tuned to standard.
