The Freygish mode comes from a different scale system than the other modes. It is actually a mode of the harmonic minor scale and is used in Jewish Klezmer music. It is the same as the Phrygian mode, with a major third instead of a minor third.

The Freygish and Phrygian modes in the key of D are very useful scale patterns to know in DADGAD. The fingerings are the exactly the same as the G Harmonic minor scale and the G natural minor scale respectively. Knowing these patterns opens up very interesting G minor possibilities. In DADGAD the chords of the G minor scale are quite accessible, such as D#, F and Bb.
