The harmonic minor scale is often heard in classical music. The scale is not considered to be very melodic due to the large step between the 6th and 7th degree. It does however have a very distinct and strong feel to it. In DADGAD the scale is easy to play in many keys. For example, the Freygish mode in the key of D has the same fingering and chords as the G harmonic scale. These fingerings, like the D harmonic minor scale, are fairly easy in DADGAD.
